Advantages in Using Teaching Resources
♫ Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011Teaching resources is simply an abbreviation for Interactive Whiteboard. It consists of a computer, a projector connected to this computer and the human input device. There is driver software installed in the computer which allows this input device to act as a mouse and keyboard. The user can directly input data into the computer by touching this board with the finger or a stylus. The projector simply projects the desktop interface onto the board. The audience is able to view such a projection as in the case of a common projector. In addition to this, the user is also able to interact with this projection. Such interaction takes place by the user touching the board. Either cameras situated on the board or electronic circuits placed behind the board immediately detect the user’s contact with the board and then the (X, Y) coordinates of the place of contact is transferred onto the computer. The computer calculates the exact place of contact and then performs the necessary action.
There is much software which is specially designed to be used with resources. This software may include virtual flipcharts having highlighter and pen options, on screen keyboards and handwriting recognition software. The successful use of such software allows the audience to gain a comprehensive understanding of the lecture or presentation. Some free teaching resources also allow the audience to take part in surveys and polls conducted through the whiteboard. This is known as a Personal Response System. The audience is provided with ‘clickers’ which has infrared or Bluetooth capacities. These clickers can be used to answer the questions posed on the interactive whiteboard, by the audience.
